Edvard Munch The Scream
|
For decades, art historians believed that Norwegian painter and printmaker, Edvard Munch, completed this famous painting in response to the existential anxiety that had wormed its way into European culture by the late 19th century, when modernization brought a flood of change to the Continent and, adding a dash of terrifying color, the ash from the volcanic eruption of Krakatoa had tinted the European sky red. Yet, as of late, another theory regarding the painting has emerged. It seems that one penny-whistle art historian believes that Eddie found himself, quite by accident, in an American town, where he drank every available bottle of Linie Aquavit and began walking the streets until he staggered into a Board of Ed meeting. Since he was drunk and didn't speak English, he was immediately appointed to fill a vacant seat, the administrators and
Dronoids believing he would never question their shifting textbook money to purchase
Glowsticks, which allegedly enhance children's self-esteem. They were correct, but Munch later recalled his experience in this painting.
